The Landsdale
Upon discovering structural damage to this customer’s piece of industrial equipment and being challenged with finding a solution, this customer contacted Simmers Crane Design and Services to assist with a structural analysis. While this device is not your typical overhead crane, our company and its experienced engineering team will take on projects related to our core capabilities in the heavy industrial space.
Box Girders Needed In A Hurry
Damaged auxiliary girders to a 240ton ladle crane became a really large production set back for our customer. With an emergency situation at hand, Simmers Crane Design and Services was able fabricate, machine, paint and ship our customer replacement girders in less than 6 weeks. Completing this work in house at our very own crane building facility, gave us the flexibility to complete this work in half the time as others without jeopardizing quality of workmanship.
275 ton to 340 ton Modernization
Simmers Crane Design & Services was contracted to modernize and increase the capacity of this 1952 built outdoor gantry crane at a hydro dam. This project included new controls, wiring, gearing, hoist drums, end trucks, trolley enclosure, cab upgrades, fresh epoxy paint and much more.
Municipal Hydroelectric Generation Fall Arrest and Trash Crane Rebuild
Simmers installed a Gorbel Free Standing Monorail Fall Protection System. We also rebuilt their trash crane including making structural improvements.
Fall Arrest System Inside Paintbooth
Fall protection is becoming a larger part in manufacturing and assembly. We were contacted by a manufacturer who was interested in providing fall protection inside a paint booth for their workers but also had a need to hang small parts. Simmers worked with Gorbel to come up with a hybrid solution which had provisions for fall protection on the inside rails while still allowing a standard workstation crane to be hung from the outer rails. For the heavy lifting, there is a slot in the top of the paint booth so that they can place the product inside the booth with the large overhead cranes. The product that they manufacturer is large which requires workers to work at heights while painting. This provided the best of both worlds and was a great compromise to meet their needs.
